Fall River's dentists have 4,487 reviews. Every single one of their sites fails Google's speed test on a phone.

We measured five of Fall River's highest-rated dental practices. Between them they hold 4,487 Google reviews at a 4.72 average — none below 4.3 stars. On a phone, all five miss Google's speed threshold, the median takes 6.4 seconds to show anything, and two take a full 10. Here's the data, and the fixes.

We ran five of Fall River's top-rated dental practices through Google's own performance tooling — the same Lighthouse engine that feeds Google's ranking signals — and looked at what a patient actually experiences on a phone.

Not one of them passed. That is not a story about bad dentists. It is a story about the gap between how good these practices are and how good the internet makes them look.

First: who these practices are#

These five businesses hold 4,487 Google reviews between them, averaging 4.72 stars. Not one is below 4.3.

Sit with that number. Nearly four and a half thousand people in this city took the time to go back to their phone, find the listing, and say that was good. You cannot buy that. You cannot fake that. You cannot shortcut it with a marketing budget. It is the accumulated result of a decade or more of doing careful work on nervous people and having them leave feeling better than when they walked in.

These are, by every measure that matters, excellent practices.

Then: what happens on a phone#

Site C4.3849655.8s

LCP — Largest Contentful Paint — is the moment something real appears on the screen. Not the moment the server answers. The moment a human being sees a word, a photo, a phone number. It is the number Google uses, and it is the number your patient feels.

Google's threshold for "good" is 2.5 seconds. Anything over 4.0 seconds Google rates poor.

The median site here takes 6.4 seconds. All five fail the "good" threshold. All five are rated poor. Two of them take ten full seconds.

The practice with 1,345 reviews and a perfect 5.0 rating — the single most beloved dental practice in this group — has the worst performance score on the list.

Why the owner has no idea#

Here is the part nobody tells you.

Your website feels fast to you. You open it on the laptop at the front desk, on the office wifi, on a browser that has visited that page a thousand times and has every image already cached. It snaps open. It looks great. Of course it does.

Your patient is standing on a sidewalk on South Main with one bar of cellular, opening your site for the first time, with nothing cached, on a three-year-old phone. That is where the ten seconds lives.

You have never seen the ten seconds. You have no way to see it. There is no alert. Nothing turns red. Nobody emails you. Google does not call to say your site is losing people. The patient just goes back to the search results and taps the next practice down — and that tap looks exactly like a person who was never going to book anyway.

That is the cruelty of it. The loss is invisible and it is silent, and it has been running for years.

The last inch#

Speed is the big one, but the small ones are cheap and they bleed:

 • One of the four sites we could inspect has a phone number you cannot tap. It is text on a page. On a phone, that means a patient has to memorize your number, leave the site, open the dialer, and type it in from memory. Every one of those steps is a place to give up.
 • Two of the four have no contact form at all. Which means when someone breaks a crown at 9pm on a Sunday, there is no way to reach you. They are in pain, they are on their phone, and your site offers them nothing until Monday. Somebody else's site does.

These are not redesigns. The tappable phone number is one line of code:

(508) 555-0100

That is the whole fix. It takes about four minutes.

The fixes, cheapest first#

 1. Make the phone number a tel: link. Four minutes. See above.
 2. Compress the images. In almost every slow site we measure, the cause is one enormous hero photo — a 4MB image being squeezed into a 400-pixel-wide phone screen. Resize it, export it as WebP, and you often cut seconds off the load. This alone fixes most of the sites on this list.
 3. Add a contact form. Even a three-field one. Name, phone, "what's going on." It works while you sleep.
 4. Check yourself, free, right now. Go to pagespeed.web.dev, paste in your URL, and read the Mobile tab. Not desktop. Mobile. Look for LCP. Google will tell you the truth about your own site in about thirty seconds, for free, and you do not need to hire anybody to hear it.

The most important thing in this report#

We are not publishing letter grades, and we are not naming these practices. We measured them, we know exactly who they are, and we are keeping that to ourselves.

Here is why.

A performance score measures what a machine can see. It cannot see the 1,345 people who left a review. It cannot see the patient who was terrified of the chair and came out of it fine. It cannot see twenty years of a practice being the one your neighbor tells you to call.

Every one of these businesses is thriving. Not one of them is failing at anything. Their websites are simply underselling them — presenting a 4.7-star, decade-deep practice with a page that makes a stranger wait ten seconds to see a phone number.

And if you read that table and quietly recognized your own site: that is good news. You already built the part that takes twenty years and cannot be bought. What is left takes an afternoon.

If you want to know your number#

I'll run the same audit on your practice — mobile LCP, tappable phone, forms, schema, the whole thing — and send you the results in plain English. Free, no pitch, no obligation, and I'll tell you honestly if there's nothing worth fixing.
